OPI Unveils Three New Shades from
Serena Williams’ Glam Slam! Series

OPI joins tennis superstar Serena Williams in announcing the latest three lacquers in the Glam Slam! collection.  To celebrate the world’s oldest, most prestigious tennis tournament, Glam Slam! England features two duo-packs filled with sparkle.

The first Lacquer set includes Your Royal Shine-ness, a metallic silver shade, paired with Servin’  Up Sparkle, a shimmer-packed silver glitter. The second Lacquer set also features Servin’ Up Sparkle, along with Grape…Set…Match, a metallic purple.

“England’s premier tennis tournament warrants colors with extra glitz and glamour,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The next big trend in nails is making lacquer look 3-dimensional by adding different micas and glitters, turning fingertips into jewelry. With two bold metallics and a sparkling glitter, these colors are fit for royalty.”

“For stand-out nails, I love experimenting with different glitter shades,” explains Serena Williams. “The new Glam Slam! England lacquers can be worn alone for a bright pop of color, or layered with Servin’ Up Sparkle to create a textured effect.”

Serena Williams has received the World Number One in singles ranking by the Women’s Tennis Association on five separate occasions, along with being listed as sixth on the all-time greatest champions list.  Additionally, she has won two Olympic gold medals in women’s doubles and has earned 27 Grand Slam titles to date. Serena is the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously and only the fifth woman in history to do so.

New shades in the Glam Slam! collection will be introduced to coincide with each of the four major tournaments, beginning with the Australian Open in January 2011, followed by launches in May 2011 for the French Open, June 2011 for Wimbledon and August 2011 for the US Open. As with all OPI Nail Lacquers, the Glam Slam! collection contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.
Glam Slam! England will be available beginning June 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail for each duo-pack.

DIGITAL SCAP DESIGNS REVIEW

Photobucket

Scrap-booking is a great hobbie, it combines creativity and saving important memories.  I have been scrap-booking since high school and love it.

I will admit that I do get behind because I download all the photo to my computer and never bother having them printed out.  I am sure other people have experienced the same thing.  I have noticied that because of this many have turned to creating a digtal scrap-book.  You are able to create pages on your computer and print them out to add to your book.

I have discovered a photographer that has create Alphabet Photography.  She has take photos of objects and nature that form letters.  These images can be used to spell anything out and work great with creating a scrap book page, card or anything else you can imagine.  I am very excited to be able to share this item with you.  Here is a little bio about the photographer:

Photographer Jodi Gerber of ArtisticLetters has created an entire catalog of black & white letter images throughout the past 3 years – all by taking photos of objects in nature that resembled letters of the alphabet. She recently decided to offer her images to the scrapbooking world so anyone could create their own designs!   It’s a truly original way to enhance your scrapbooking projects - or even for greeting cards, and digital designs consisting of wedding invitations, graduation announcements, baby’s birth, etc.).  Endless possibilities for whatever the mind can imagine!

Here are some examples:

Above are only four letters. I think that this is unique and can be used to create limitless items.

I am working on a couple project that I will be posting very soon but wanted to let everyone know about this item already.  Also I have a great offer for all my followers.

Jodi teamed up with me and is offering my readers Exclusive Discounted Pricing of $10 Off!  Please visit her website   http://digitalscrapdesigns.com/digitalscrapstore/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=40_247 and check out the huge catalog of 144 letter images.  Be sure to use Coupon Code:  10DollarsAL to get your $10 discount.  Jodi also has a special right now that includes a set of 12 PNG frames and a “Flower Whispers” paper pack consisting of eight 12 x 12 images that will be included in the letter purchase for free.

THIS IS WHY I LOVE MADEA!!!!

Photobucket
I have to admit that I am a huge Tyler Perry fan and have seen all of movies and some plays (via dvd). My favorite character by far is MADEA.  She says a lot of crazy things, but sometimes she does share some wisdom.

I follow Madea on twitter and her tweets either have me laughing or saying that make sense.  Well I saw this photo on twitter and love it.  Here are a couple of her tweets that I like.  If you are not following Madea you should be:

  • most girls just wanna be loved. . . not lied to, played with, or cheated on , but hoes love to be lied to , played with and cheated on
  • be there & support her, she is there for you & supports you & makes you & your stuff important, why can't u?
  • open a door for a woman, pull out a chair, text just because, kiss her on the forehead, know when somethings wrong
  • Most the people tweeting don't realize that the reason why their single is because GOD knows that person aint ment for u
  • Don't loose her and then expect her to come back , you should have thought before you did that

There are other tweets that I liked but you could check them out yourself.  I know this is a random post but some of these made sense to me and of course Madea saying it put a smile on my face.

MOVING FORWARD IS HARD BUT WELL WORTH IT

Photobucket

Letting go is by far one of the most difficult things and person will do in their lifetime.  Regardless of its letting go of a person, situation, an object, etc… By not letting go your are making sure that you re-live that moment over and over again.

The most typical example would be a woman that stays in an abusive relationship or has a series of abusive relationship or has a series of abusive relationships.  She is holding on to the first abusive relationship and thus finds men that help her stay in this past experience.  It is not until she lets go of her absent father or abusive man in her childhood, or (fill in the blank) and forgives that person and herself (for holding on) will she move towards a healthy relationship where she is cherished.

I think Taylor Perry (okay I love Taylor Perry so you might see more quotes from his movies) put it best in diary of a Mad Black Woman,  When somebody hurts you they take power over you, if you don’t forgive them then they keeps the power.  Forgive him baby and after you forgive him, forgive yourself.

By holding on to the past you are giving the person or situation power over you because they control your life, they will not allow you to move forward.  THINK ABOUT IT FOR A BIT.

Another example would be refusing to let go because of a fear of the unknown.  The unknown future that results in moving your life into a new direction.  I found this quote that sums up why its worth moving towards the unknown.

Taking a leap to the unknown, might reveal what your truly capable of.

Not only will you feel a weight lifted on off of your shoulders, but you will be proceeding towards becoming the best you that you can be.  Never tell yourself that anything is impossible.

Next posting I will make a list of how to move forward.

WHAT REASONS WOULD YOU USE NOT TO MOVE FORWARD???

WHAT'S TO COME...

Photobucket
Monday is not my favorite day or the week, but it does mark a new week and if you want it can be a new start.

I am taking this Monday to make some changes for myself and for this blog.

I am going to continue reviewing items, but I would like to have a weekly theme.  Talk about issues that affect everyone and offer some tips on how to overcome and deal.

Later this week I will also be posting my first giveaway for a sigma brush... so look out for the post.

LETTING GO AND MOVING ON...

I like to make the best out of every situation (trust me that is not always easy), but lately I have been having a difficult time dealing with leaving things in the past and moving forward.  When I think about this concept it seems so easy and of course it makes sense.

Forget about everything that has hurt you and just look towards your bright future.  It all seems so easy until a situation arises that allows all the past pains to flood your mind and heart.

For everyone that is working towards a goal or goals, this is so important.  In order to truly move forward you cannot be weighted down by the past.

Amongst all of my goals, I would have to say being happy is the one that relates most to this topic.  I am not saying I am Debbie downer all day, every day, but I have my moments.  Naturally, I prefer to look on the lighter side of things and laughter is always a part of my day regardless of the moment.  I laugh when I am happy and I laugh when I just cannot believe the situation I am in (yes I am special, I was the kid that laughed whiling I was being yelled at, even though it meant I was in even more trouble).

Like I was saying, I have had some minor and no so minor bumps in the road.  As the years of passed, I have noticed that I smile and laugh less than I use to.  Sure there are moments of sadness that you cannot avoid, but it was more than that for me.  I have recently realized that I am holding too tightly to my pass pains. Instead of just dealing with the situation at hand, I add all the similar painful situations I have had in the past, of course it makes things worse and much harder to deal with.  I know that I want more happiness in my life, but recognize that I will not have this unless I let go.

DO YOU HAVE A SIMILAR SITUATION?  IS THERE SOMETHING IN YOUR PAST THAT IS AFFECTING YOUR PRESENT?

Please comment and I will go into letting go in the following post.

Each and every day will continue to be a work in progress and this is what you must continue to accept.  There will be times that you feel that you have been pushed back 10 steps and struggle to take one step forward.  This is normal and what must happen in order for you to learn and build your strength.  Always have faith in yourself and love yourself more, for knowing that you refuse to give up.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY....

I wanted to take a moment to wish all the Mother's a wonderful day.  A mother is someone that gives you life and shields you through this world until you are able to stand on your own.  Take a moment to thank the woman that is your mom.  She has sacrificed to give you everything she could and she has given you love so that you know that you lovable.

STOP PRESSING THAT SNOOZE BUTTON

Photobucket
Being a morning person is not one of the characteristics that I was blessed with.  I usually have no problem with sleeping in, but these days I have so many things to do and it seems that I never have enough time.  Of course a few extra hours in a day would help this problem.  So until they decided to add those hours to the day, I have get myself to wake up early.

According to my dad, I should not think about it and "just get up and get on with the day".  Well he is a wise man, but in this situation it is not that easy for me... So I have been looking for useful tips that will assist me with this issue and thought someone else might need this information.  So these are the tops 10 tips that will help you wake up early.

  1. Do not put your alarm clock next to your bed - Once you take a few steps away from your bed your body knows that it is time to get up and if you physically get up and walk away from your bed, you less likely to go back under the covers.  So by putting your alarm clock away from your night stand you force your self to get up to turn it off.  When you keep it by your bed, it makes it that much easier for you to just hit the snooze button and go back to bed.
  2. Make goals for your Morning - Every night make a list of things that you want to get done in the morning.  This will serve as a motivator.  You will want to wake up to make sure you get everything done.
  3. Try is Once - Try getting up early once and see how you like it.  See how it feels not to have to rush around once you wake up and see how much more you are able to accomplish in that day.  At the end of the day reflect and you will see that waking up early is worth it because you are able to get everything you need done and still have time for yourself.
  4. Plan ahead - Before you go to bed, make sure that everything you need for the next morning is already laid out.  So if you plan on working out in the morning, have your clothes and running shoes laid out and ready to go.  Same for you work clothes.  This will allow you to get up and go.  You will not dread having to look for anything.
  5. Make a Pact - Make a pact with a friend that you are going to meet each other every morning at the same time and same place.  You can not call or text each other, that way you will know that you have somewhere to be and jumping out of bed is a must.
  6. Wake up at the same time everyday - It takes 3 weeks to develop a new routine.  Once it becomes part of your daily routine it will not be so difficult.
  7. Go to bed early - Listen to your body.  Sometimes getting out of bed early is so difficult because you only got a couple of hours of sleep.  If you are tired, its going to be that much more difficult to jump out of bed in the morning.  It is suggested that we get at least 8 hours of sleep, but in reality some people need more or less than 8 hours.  Experiment, find out how much sleep you need and make sure to get that every night.
  8. Reward Yourself - Make a goal of waking early everyday and after a couple of weeks give yourself a reward.  I know I like giving myself a mini shopping spree...
  9. Cleaning your Room - We all know that living in an organized environment will allow us to sleep better and feel better.  It will also encourage you to wake up earlier to make you bed and maintain the organization.
  10. Start today - Do not keep telling yourself , "I will start tomorrow", because tomorrow will never come.  Start now and know that it's not always going to be easy, but it will be worth it.
Waking up early will allow you to be more productive and allow you to take better care of yourself.

I hope that these tips help and please let me know they worked for you

    To a New Week

    Hello to everyone.

I hope that everyone is having a great day and is looking towards a week that is full of positive outcomes.

I would like to thank everyone that has been following my post and leaving wonderful comments.  Please know that I am reading all of them, but for some reason I am not able to comment.  Until I figure it out please know that I do read them and hope you continue to comment.

So far my blog has been all about reviews and to be honest I still have several more reviews that I plan to do, but I would like to add other topics.  I think we all have millions of things going on in our lives and I would like to address some of them like:

    • Weight loss
    • Self esteem
    • Some DIY
    • Stress

These are only the few that I want to list for now.  I will have a new post in a couple of days. I am looking forward to doing much more than reviews and hope that you continue to enjoy my blog.

So please let me know how you like newer post and perhaps let me know some of the changes you would like to see in the post.
